We weren’t seeing very much at all. Some nice bucks on trail cameras mostly at night. We are just starting to see a few scrapes. The many years of intensive harvest have taken it’s toll.

I hunt 209 which has been Intensive Harvest the last 5 or so years and also participated in early doe. 2 does in early season, 4 does in intensive harvest, 1 buck = 7 deer. Had the worst season in my 24 years of deer hunting. Time for a change.

My son had been listening to my hunting stories growing up and was increadibly excited to actually go on his first deer hunt. There was no way I was going to tell him not to shoot that little six pointer that walked by.

It’s always a bad feeling to not find an animal that you’ve hit. All you can do is put in your best effort to located it and if you come up empty then there’s not much else you can do. I’m sure alot of the people have gone through the same thing. You never want it to happen but sometimes it does. Hopefully you can get a slug in him.

I hunted 2 days after the gun season 3 years ago and shot my biggest bow buck…no time like the present.

Talked to my son up in Fargo yesterday…starting to see more mallards. This cold weather must be doing the trick.

Andy do you go to school in ND? My son (whose name is Andy and is from Rochester) goes to NDSU and shot up the ducks and geese this morning.

My folks have place about 5 miles east of Mille Lacs, we first started seeing turkeys about 3 years ago with more and more sightings in the area each year.

I voted yes only because I’ve seen too many close calls during the week of/after the 4th. People are absolutley INSANE!!! No clue of boating etiquette, what carnage their wake is causing, following skiers, skiing feet from docks, driving too close. I won’t pull the kids skiing anymore because I don’t want to risk their safety. Maybe if some of these people were clued in it might help. Yea I know there are some that will remain clueless and are beyond help but some of these people who take Grandpa boat out for a spin a couple times a year might benefit from some education.

I’ve been out a couple times in the past week. Did pretty good. Biggest was a 13.5″ and 8 in the 11.5″ – 12.5″ range. Not too much competition out there. Didn’t find any ticks. I fished a two different areas of the Main branch using crawlers.
