I can not get on the ice anywhere that i have found. The ice has risen 3 ft since friday. Decent chance that hwy 22 goes completely under

there is 6 to 8″ but there are spots that are less than 3″. It did not freeze very even do to late open water spots.

Most bays off of hwy 22 are safe.

5″ as far out as i can walk today. 4 spear houses on becker. A warning though: if anyone is going from the winter access to the crappie hole on shoe there was an open area near hammers point that was open for a week when everything else was frozen. Ice probalbe less than 2″ there’

The entire chain is frozen over 1 to 1.5 inches.

With the current weather forecat and the water temp of 40 degrees we should start seeing ice on the chain within the next few days. Could be an early ie fishing season which would be awesome!

Catching cats on horseshoe is easy. I have been catching as many as I want for years, actually its harder not to catch them.

In the summer during this time of the year just use a bobber with a tail that lays flat. Use a white tube jig and a minnow. Be in 8-12 feet of water and set your jig at 4ft. The cats will find you. When your bobber tail hits 12 noon or straight up then set the hook and have fun.

    Popular lakes include:
    Horseshoe north end
horseshoe sw end of meth hole
    Mud lake north shore
    cedar island around big island
horseshoe nw shore on far west end

I will tell you how to ice cats when there is ice.
