I bought the 6 last year in the same position you are and if you get it you won’t be disappointed. It’s plenty big to use in a flip over house or outside without a problem and the battery life is surprisingly good. I was skeptical about it at first but I wouldn’t change my decision now in hindsight.

VX-1 is far and above better than the other 2. Humminbird zoom is worthless and I owned an FL-8 and it’s nothing special. If I could go back I’d get a VX-1 no doubt.

I’ve fished Devils 4 times this winter with a lot less success than last winter especially for perch. I’ve had many people come into my work and tell me that they’ve been having real good luck for perch at Stump so far with a few walleyes mixed in. I haven’t personally tried it but I might be on Monday. Just from second hand reports I would suggest Stump over Devil’s right now.

Thanks Brady. Can i ask where you stayed at LOTW?

We stayed at Sportsman’s Lodge on Oak Island. It’s on the northern part. Came in through Canada so it wouldn’t work for you guys

I fish Devils Lake 20+ times a winter and went to Lotw last winter in February for the first time. In my opinion you’re going to catch lots more jumbo perch at Devils Lake but probably way more walleyes and plus the saugers at lotw. We kept 14/16 and 15/16 walleye and sauger limit in our 2 days of fishing lotw and at Devils Lake it isn’t uncommon to keep your 20 perch within an hour if you’re in a hot spot. You’re going to catch lots of fish at either place it’s just a matter of if you want more perch or more walleyes.
