Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer is not listed as compatible with
Gen3. It is a newer Gen ‘ducer for Carbon, Live and newer Elites.
TotalScan is a similar All-in-One transducer that is compatible with
Gen3. You’ll have to verify. A good transducer for Gen3, in my
experience, is the HDI 83/200 455/800 (although it does NOT have
SideScan), it has 2D and DownScan. I ran software version 7.0 in my
    Gen3.

You’ve followed the right procedure…not sure why that message would come
up. As long as you saved wpts to a card, you could try doing a Hard Reset.
This also clears wpts and might clear the memory issue. The next step
would be to change software versions. Going up 1 (if you’re not on the
latest) or back 1 can sometimes fix bugs.

Your transducer selection is right. The HDI is a very popular bow mount
ducer. You will use it for 2D and DownScan. To see the DownScan, press
Pages and select Structure. Under the menu tab make sure View is set
to Down. Also press Pages to create your favorite split screens…
    such as a 50/50 2D & DownScan.

    More info:
The latest software update for Elite-Ti is V4, (released a couple weeks ago).
Latest update for Elite HDI/Chirp is V6.0, (released Oct. ’16). These updates
are suppose to improve map/chart redraw speed. I have not used the Elite, been
using HDS Gen2/Gen3. Guess Elite has same broadband sonar as HDS. The Lowrance
Insight Pro chips have lots of data on them,(Pro has lower 48 states) even
the Gen3 will take a while to “load charts” with that chip in. Great chip, I
use it. Also, like Captain said in your other post, use the “Stop Sonar”
feature in the menu before you pull up the TM. At next spot put TM down and
start sonar. Do this even if you get a Gen3, helps unit find bottom faster.
    Hope this helps.

On the right is the Amplitude scope. To turn it off, press the menu key once.
Then scroll down to “View”, then press right arrow and another window will
open. You should see Amplitude scope here. Uncheck the box by pressing enter.
Next, set “Surface clarity” to Low. Press menu once and go down to Advanced.
Press right arrow and you will see Surface clarity, press enter and set to Low.
Also set Noise rejection on Low.

Select Lowrance in mapping options. You do not need to reset any factory defaults. That chip will work in all HDS Gen 1’s and will work in Gen 2’s
IF your software version is NO higher than v 2.1. (Older Lakemaster will
work at v 2.5, you could try it, but for sure 2.1 works for chips up to
    and including version 7.

Was the mounting angle calibration ever done? Not sure if this
will solve the issue, but it is recommended.

Try experimenting with the Fishing Modes. Try Fresh Water and/or General Use.
The processor should adjust the ping speed automatically for whichever
    mode you choose.

Assuming you are in 60′ water or less, check these settings.
    Ping Speed: Normal or Fast
    Fishing Mode: Shallow Water
    Frequency: 200
BTW, you will need to “x” ADVANCED mode to adjust Ping Speed.

Bruce, you didn’t say what brand card you bought, but try a SanDisk
if you haven’t already. They have worked every time for me on LCX
    & HDS models.

Sounds like you need Adblock. Do a search for Adblock for
mac or Safari. It helped on windows.

Change Freq to 200 KHz for shallow water.(83 is for deep water). Next, set surf clarity to Low.
Set Ping Speed to Normal or 75%.
Set Fishing Mode to “Shallow Water”.
Find INSTALLATION in the settings menu and select your
transducer model from the drop down list.
After making these changes, you may have to re-adjust your
sensitivity. Never had mine as low as -6.

    DSI
Set Freq to 800 for better definition / clarity in shallow
water. 455 is for deep or greater distances.

With out seeing it, I’m not familiar with that transducer.
The most common transducer for fishing natural lakes or any
water less than 100′ deep is the HST-WSBL, part # 000-0106-72
It’s an 83/200 khz. 200 only would be best for shallow water.
Check your software version. It should be 2.5.0. If not,
update it and then you should find “shallow water” under
Fishing Mode in the features or setup.

Transducer setting; There should be a silver tag on the
transducer cable near the plug. It will have the model #
on it. I’m guessing HST-WSBL. Your transducer choices are
in the menu under Installation. Also, like hookem said, in
the setup under FISHING MODE, select “Shallow Water”.

Did you go into the menu and check (x) the box that says
Chart Manual Mode? That’s how I run my Lcx models too.

I was at a sporting goods store when I first saw that glitch.
The elite 7 would show the lines and numbers but the elite 5
would only show the lines. That was about a month ago. You
may have to call Lowrance or stop at a store that has a
display to see if there has been a fix.

I bought the 203DLX about a month ago. Have only had it out a few days but so far I really like it. I used 50# spider wire
(10# dia) about 1/2 way up the spool for backing, then 4 colors of 832 lead core. This set-up is 11oz lighter than my
larger 10 color reels. It’s now the first one out of the rod
    locker each day.

Mine are at 35# on my 620T. It’s a 2010 tandem axle with
original Goodyear Marathons. Tires look good and are wearing
very evenly. Just took them in last week for a spin balance
check. They needed a slight adjustment there.

I had an ’04 115 opti on a 620T. It was a very good motor.
I bought it used and ran it for 5 seasons. Never a problem.
It had about 800 hours on it when I sold it (3 yrs ago) and
as far as I know it’s still running good.

I had tire issues with several single ax trailers. Took two
of them to a blacksmith that does (I think) DOT type
inspections. Both the camber and tow-in were off. He
“pressed” them to the proper specs. Had to bring one trailer
back a second time and press it a little more.

You didn’t say how long your leader was, but if you had more
than 2 colors of ‘core IN the water, and the depth was 10-16’,
you were probably dragging some of your first color and all
of your leader across the bottom. This might be whats causing
    the abrasion and line twist.

The Elite will store 3000 way points. If your existing

transducer has a blue connector you can use it with Elite or

HDS. If not, you will have to mount a new transducer.

If you don’t need the structure scan and all the capabilities
of an HDS, you could save $$ by going with the Elite 7. Or,
one Elite 7 and one HDS. They can be networked.

Yes lowrance does let you adjust how it puts down trail pionts. There are 3 options…Auto, Time, or Distance. You
should be using Time. Go into Menu > Trail Options and down
to Trail Criteria. Check to see if there is a dot in the
Time box, if not use arrow key to move it there & press ent or exit.
By default it puts down a trail point every 3 seconds. This
should give you a very smooth trail with your current antenna. You could even slow it down to 5 seconds if you’re
    only moving .3mph.

Very sharp color combo Mark. Those Mercs look great with it.
