Caught a few last night from the Mississippi in my neighborhood. The river is only a 10-minute walk down the street from my house, which is great beacuse I’m w/o wheels at the moment. Catching ’em on cut chub and frozen shrimp.

Sorry, guys…wasn’t targetting gar. The fish made a grab for my live sucker minnow and got its teeth caught in the line.

Caught my first longnose gar ever last Friday evening on the Croix at Hudson. Took a pic of it on the ground first and was getting ready to pick it up for a pic holding it when it started flipping around, getting all covered in sand. Tried to rinse it off and it got away from me

Personally, I am never disappointed in even catching a small flathead. They are such a cool fish, that I can appreciate even the littlest of those buggers.

    I agree with ya, Mike!

Some very nice pics of some very nice fish posted

Here’s my best one of this season so far…a 37.5″ long 23 lb’r from a Metro spot on the Mississippi, 6-23-12

I’ve personally seen a 4 lb. flat keeping a 3 lb. channel cat company on a fella’s stringer north of 694 a couple years ago. Never seen one that far north of Saint Anthony Falls before and haven’t since. They’re up here, but probably not in numbers that would realistically constitute a fishable population.

A couple from last week and one from today. Haven’t gotten a new digital cam yet, so I’ve been using the cell phone cam.

Fished solo out of a rental on the east side of the lake on Saturday from 10am to 6pm. About 22′ of water. 3 very small walleyes, 2 small pout, and only one little perch. Extremely slow.

Played it for about 20 minutes until I got the whopping score of 472 lbs! 5 kings, biggest three were 89, 89, and 86!

Better late than never…here’s my new personal best lake sturgeon caught on the Croix on 10-14-07. A chunky fish that measured in at 49.5″.

Mike (MNfishHUNT) had me twang a couple fish in his boat. The first was a 32 lb. flatty and the twanging didn’t really seem to do anything with that fish. The other time was when I had a 49.5″ sturgeon on and that fish jumped once, but that was before I started twanging. Once I started twanging that fish, it seemed like I may have had it change directions a couple of times during its runs.

I might be in. I’ll know for sure by tomorrow morning. I’ll check for open seats when I know I’m 100%.

    Manny…I was thinking….

You might want to attach a Folbe to a bucket.

Funny…after all the great reports I’ve been reading about how well the Folbes perform, I was already thinking the same thing!

    Great minds think alike

Hey guys, no worries! Thanks for the sympathy

    I know I’m not the first guy to lose a rod to a fish and I won’t be the last. It’s one of those things that you hear about happening to other fishermen and say, ” that won’t ever happen to me” and then when it does, you’re just left in a state of shock and disbelief. I’ve moved through the grieving process rather swiftly and I’ve already come to the acceptance phase. Life goes on…I will fish again, someday {*insert smiley with distant, hopeful look in its eyes*}

Wish it could’ve been captured on video. I can’t help but chuckle to myself when I think about the whole ordeal.

First the “Manny slap” and now this

I guess the fish gods want to keep Ol’ Manny in check. Can’t wait to see what they might have in store for me next season! Stay tuned…

Actually, I think he’s the angler formerly known as Mr. BO, for those who know what I’m talkin’ ’bout

    Thanks, everybody

    Wow…I actually won something

I’m glad I stuck it out another 15-20 minutes after I sprained my right foot that morning

    Nice fish, Ryan!

Big congrats…I knew it would happen soon enough

Oh, and the Milwaukee’s Best Lights? I think I may have been the donor of those bad boys…unless Phil recently stopped living the “High Life”
