Your team doesn’t suck, your QB situation is a bit precarious for the time being. On the bright side for you, your 3rd string QB didn’t look too bad for someone fresh off the practice squad – I think he has a lot of upside from what I saw today. On the bright side for us, I think we have a chance when the Vikes go to Lambeau. I’m not stupid, that’s why I said, “a chance”. Depending on how fast your QB can adjust, it may be just a slim chance however, prior to your QB injury, the chance of the Vikes winning was zero.

Many years ago (30 plus), I had well over 1200 yards out with my kite at the end of it during a great, windy summer day. It was just a speck in the sky above. I got hungry and rather than reeling the line in, I tied it to our TV antennae (I was on the roof to begin with – grew up in the country and that’s what country boys do…). Went into the house and made a PB and J sandwich, then headed back up onto the roof, only now my kite wasn’t above my head, but rather on the horizon, just barely visible above many acres of trees. I reeled in as fast as I could, but to no avail. I thought, “it was fun while it lasted and my good ‘ol kite went out with a bang!”.

Two years later I was spearing suckers (country kid) and found my kite at the edge of the creek, line still intact.

That’s the end of the story. I know it’s usually the uninteresting story’s that the author has to identify “the end”, but hey, you brought back some good memories with your kite-and-fishing-rod question, and for that, I thank you!

Sent you a PM of the guy who’s done my stuff. Very good, very reasonable. Good luck.

Know nothing about Muskies, but walleye hang deep in that lake (very clear), so the fish you are graphing are likely them.

Brainerd lakes area. Lot’s of top notch resorts. The only one I can recall by name is Craguns on Gull Lake. Good luck.

I’d rent for a while for a few reasons: 1) Just to get a feel for the area in general. As already stated, there are some not-so-nice areas you’d want to avoid. 2) You may only be 20 miles from work, but if you are going the wrong way during rush hour(s), you could be looking at an hour of travel time each way. 3) It gives you plenty of time to see what’s out there and get a real good feel for the housing market and prices. It still is a buyers market, so take a little time and you could save enought to buy another boat. Good luck.

Squeezed the bulb a few times and issue is gone.

No real problem, but the motor “sputtered” for the first time ever and I thought I would check and see if the bulb needs to be squeezed. Thanks for the info.

After buying my first Toro 11 years ago, I will never go to another brand. I now have a Toro blower and mower. The most reliable small engine I’ve ever had.

Yes, that boat is exactly like the one he’s looking at. Now that we’ve established that it’s a walleye (deep V) boat, does anyone have any comparisons to the WX series?

I am confused. I thought the ZX was the predecessor to the WX? He emailed me a pic of the boat and it looks nothing like a bass boat. It is a earlier 2000 model (05 or 06) 2050.

Congrats on the new rig. I have a 1850, which is quite similar to your rig, and have zero regrets and lots of smiles. Luckily for you, it’s been a banner year as far as temps. go, so you’ll be able to get yours wet as soon as they have it ready. Enjoy!

Good question (why no snap-in carpet) to which I don’t have an answer. I bought a ’10 1850 and it is the only thing I don’t like about it, but I couldn’t justify such a jump in price, just for the snap-in carpet. I’m guessing that, being these models are so close to being identical, they needed something else to justify the additional price of the 1900.

I emailed the company shortly after receiving my boat and asked them if by ripping out the carpet I could make it the same as a snap-out floor, minus the snaps. I never got a reply.

Does anyone know………..is this a WX1880 issue? Is anyone with other models (newer models) seeing these problems? I never winterize my boats and didn’t intend on winterizing the WX1850. However I’d hate to have broken piping in the spring.

I called my dealer last year about my ’10 1850. They told me that the pumps/system was maintenece free and that I didn’t need to do anything to prepare it for winter storage. One year of storage under my belt and no issues.

    IMHO Rapid Marine, Ham Lake
    They have Ranger, lund, Crestliner.
Been doing business with them for over 20 years.

Have heard good things (no personal experience as a boat buyer) for Frankie’s, Chisago City (Ranger, Skeeter).

NOTE: Frankies just lost Skeeter and now have G3 in it’s place. As a Skeeter Customer, they’ve treated me well.

Own both a Toro snowblower and a Toro lawnmower. Both are top notch. After owing 2 Toro’s, I won’t buy anything else. Problem free and perform great. Before the Toro I owned a cheaper brand (can’t think of it right now, but it’s pretty popular) and the Toro is worth the extra money and then some. After summer storage, 1 pull and off I go. Good luck.

Yeah, I’m with the other fella’s here. I keep a few soft boxes with my go-to stuff, as well as any extra clothing that I’ve shed as the day grows warm. It is definitely an added feature that get’s little mention. I would fish out of the boat for a while and then determine if you want to fill this space with some custom shelving. Good luck and get out there in that pretty new rig of yours!

Very sharp boat! I’ve had mine for over a year now and I still enjoy it just as much as the first time I brought her home. If mine was stolen tomorrow, I’d buy the same boat again. Now go get her dirty!

Congrats on the new rig, it’s sharp for sure! I have the same outfit and can assure you, you will be tickled pink every time you bring her out on the water.

I backtroll with my big motor when the wind is blowing hard enough. I can’t comment on trolling with a Vantage, but it seems to go just find with the big motor. I know there are others here with a kicker on their 1850’s, so maybe they’ll chime in.

As far as the Wave Whackers, they perform great. No complaints whatsoever.

There is a place in Lindstrom that makes specialty ratchet covers for Skeeters and other boat brands. I think Frankies sends his Skeeters there for ratchet covers too.

I bought my Skeeter at Frankies, and yes, he uses Lakes Area Canvas for his custom covers. I have a ratchet cover made by them for my ’10 WX 1850. Very nice. I also had a cover made by him for my previous boat and would highly recommend this guy.

If you play your cards right, it sounds like you will be covered with a transferrable warranty, so as far as any big item is concerned, you will likely be covered.

Having said that, you DID buy a 3 year old boat with 50 hours or so on it. I’ve owned 3 brand new boats myself, all of which needed some TLC at one point or another. Some of my minor “issues” may have even been something that could have been done better at the factory, but I would rather fix them myself, than: Hook up my boat and pull it to dealer, wait for dealer to get at it and fix it, then have to go to dealer and pull my boat back – all the while I am boat-less.

I can’t say I’ve had any of your specific issues, but if I did, none would be worth it to me to go to the dealer to get them fixed.

I’m not bustin your chops, but I really don’t think that the things you’ve mentioned are BIG deals that reflect poorly on Skeeter (or their warranty). I think they are issues that, in general, are common throughout the boating industry when folks buy boats that are used, even boats that have as little as 50 hours on them.

I hope your boat is done nickel and diming you so you can enjoy the rest of your summer fishing in that peach of a boat you now own! Tight lines.

I’ve had mine for just over a year now. This is my 3rd boat and I think it took me 3 tries to get it just right. If I lost my boat tomorrow and had to buy another, I’d buy the same boat – no question about it.

If I did it correctly, here’s a pic of mine. Good luck with the wedding and hope to see you on the water soon.

Congrats on the new rig – very sharp! Not like you don’t already know, but, you will be very impressed when you get her out on the water. Be sure to leave plenty of feedback for those out there who are looking.

Well, I’ll give you an A+ on the boat, but a C- on your pics. Yes, I can see she’s a beaut, but there’s a bit of room for improvement on the pics. Maybe if you get some time you can add some pics with her out of the water and some views with little/no reflection (evening or cloudy day). Not bustin’ your chops, it’s just that a boat that pretty deserves to be shown as such. Congrats on such a nice rig.

Super sharp boat. If you’re up on Winnie this coming week/weekend, I’ll keep an eye out for ya. Mine’s a black top, gold/beige 1850.

As anyone who owns a Skeeter knows prior to clicking on the link, that the boats are gonna be sweet, but I clicked on there today just to listen to the music – it kicks butt.
