I noticed the last couple NRA magazines had a 25% and a 20% off coupon also. I think MN Sportsman also had the % off coupons inside too?

Hit 3 different areas in MN over the last few weekends heard 1 drumming saw 5 shot 3. All birds seen have been young of the year and all but one had full tail feathers. My son whiffed one that looked like it had short tail feathers.

I have noticed a ton of food in the woods this year compared to last years famine. Dogwoods are heavy, highbush cranberries, hazelnuts, alder, and lots of clover.

Just missed seeing a bear from the looks of the tracks. Colors were awesome last weekend. Should be a little thinner this weekend with the rain and wind.

TFG check Fleet Farm in Oakdale for reloading supplies.
They seem to have a few boxes of primers large and small and such whenever I have been looking for ammo. They have been cleaned out on lead 12 ga clay loads for months. I didn’t see any .22 rounds either. It’s a good thing I bought a few bricks when the kids were in gun safety. p.s. new Fleet Farm just opened this week in Cambridge. I hope it has a huge outdoors section like the out of the city ones.

No fat and try to get as much silver off the cuts. One place I don’t trim is the front shoulders. They are too much work for me and I just throw them little strips in the grind. I haven’t had a big problem clogging my grinder. Try lightly freezing meat first. It makes it way cleaner and easier to hand grind.

I work in a building that is the world headquarters for the building owner. My company leases the entire 4th floor so we get stuck with owner rules. The signs state the company bans guns on the premises. So the way I read it if you only have one gun you’re OK…right? JK /Signs are silly and don’t protect anybody, but they do show ignorance. BTW when seconds count the cops are only minutes away.

If anything goes down at work I can just envision half a dozen PTC people running to their vehicles for protection.

Stillakid haha got ya. The gun is a $300 used Turkish made Sarsilmaz. Yep I never heard of it either. I bought it on a whim wondering if I would like an O/U. Well I rarely shoot anything else. I love how short it is and how it handles! I really need a nice Browning or Ruger Red Label but just can’t justify $1K plus on a grouse gun. I don’t have to worry about scratching this thing. The only problem I have had is I broke two firing pins in 6 years. I do fine at trap shooting but the dang grouse are laughing at me.

They always say beware of the one gun shooter. They hit everything that moves! It’s an extension of them and they have never had to use anything else.

Does it have water bottle holders on the back of it? Mine does and its the reason I bought it. I just love the bottle holders!

Fleet Farm sells some self resetting ckt breakers in the boating isle. They bold to the battery terminal. The rule of thumb used to be about 1 amp per pound of thrust. This may have changed with more efficient motors? Make sure your wire gauge is large enough to handle that current and no longer than necessary. Factory wiring may not be large enough to handle all that current.

I saw the sheriff zoom by us with his lights flashing last night down by Afton. Sounds like it was a kid my girl just graduated with at Stillwater HS. I told her the same thing happened to a friend of mine in 1984. The Croix seems to claim a few people each year.

    So sad!

I had a couple 40HP Johnny and Evi 2 cylinders. tough as nails! Don’t forget about the gas lines under the hood. they tend to be over looked quite often. There are several that are very easy to replace. The carbs are super simple to rebuild see youtube for more video info. You could also run it with the hood off and have someone spray carb cleaner on the internal fuel lines and carb bases while running to see if it changes the idle speed ie. leaking air into system. Let us know what you find out.

My # tip is ALWAYS run Non-Oxegenated gas in all of your small engines! MSRA website has a Non-Oxy gas station location list.

I agree Suzuki, last night was awesome! Caught ~30 fish, mostly sheepskins and silvers but I finally boated my first four walleyes of the year…all under 10″. Third trip and not a single keeper eye yet, man I suck this year!

Does this biologist work for the DNR or not?
In the past I have looked at the paper files in the fisheries dept. This was before a lot of the info was online. It he is still there that data is ours (public) I’m pretty sure it cannot be withheld. They might not put it online if they don’t want to. It may be worth a trip to the headquarters if you are interested to look in person. I have always been treated well during my trips down there with any questions.

It’s a pretty pathetic start to the year. Nobody brought in a legal eye for the first night. We’re hoping for better luck tonight. The lamprey died R.I.P.

Had it happen to me. I was hitting my closest grouse spot one weekend. Out come my buddy that I showed the spot to and his Lt. Col from Reserves! I immediately started laughing and started giving him [censored]. I mean I really gave him [censored] but mostly we all just laughed. I still laugh about it today, what else can you do. It is what is, Now it’s time for him to give you one of “his” spots.

Laugh it off and get over it, It’s not your land or your birds.

I would think a 240gr. bullet would do the same thing? Have you seen slow motion shots into ballistic gelatin? They look devastating with the trauma. You should reloaded just in case they recover and try to get up though?

Can’t wait to hear of some more success stories.

Can’t wait to try this one. I’m dropping off some pheasants for my brother today and will give him this recipe. I have another recipe on it’s way.

The jist of it is a bed of squash or sweet potato, some poblano pepper, a layer of proschuitto, layer of pheasant breasts, and some crunchy topping. Very good. I wish she would send me the particulars since it was awesome.

p.s. don’t forget to list this in the recipe forum please.

You’ll get a laugh out of this. I bought a clearance no name model from Radio Schack last year $50. It absolutely rocks! Although it did bring me through the “hood” on a couple routes (lock the doors!) it hasn’t missed a beat. It has turn by turn audible directions, attractions, food, lodging…etc. I am very happy with it.

Go for the red dot. I did this year and it dropped instantly. Both lungs hit as well as bottom of spine damage. Very little far shoulder waste. It was heading for the neighbors 40 and I didn’t want to ruin his hunt tracking it.

For me 2 head on neck shots and this years “red dot shot” dropped instantly. Every boiler room shot has ran 20-80 yards.

    Good Luck,

Hey Mike J. Try out Irfanview for a free picture manipulator. It works great and is pretty simple to use and it’s free.I have been using it for about 7 years now.

OMG I had some of the best wild game ever. These guys are some awesome cooks! Turned out the menu changed a little. The bear roast crock potted over apples with a little allspice was superb. The pheasant was on a bed of sweet potatoes with poblano peppers then a layer of proschuitto. Holy crap and some topping, it was fantastic. We had some pounded venison steak with proschuitto pesto wrapped on a dill pickle and rolled in some seasoning then broiled for appetizers. I couldn’t get enough! The Hoisen veni chunks were damn good too. It all made my ring sausage and wild rice and sticks look bush league. I really got to learn how to cook better!

    I’m waiting for the recipes,

The main difference between a 7AH and 9AH battery is:
a 12VDC 7 amp hour battery can supply a 1 Amp load for 7 hours. A 9 amp hour battery can supply a 1 amp load for 9 hours. If I remember right My Vexi takes about 0.350Amps so theoretically it would run 7/.35=20 hour run time. Regardless I cjarge it after each use. Since batteries slowly discharge and don’t just quit.
