Spent the afternoon on the north half of Wissota today, leaving only when the sky opened up around 8. Water temps are 60 in the main lake to 63 in the Yellow River. Found the crappies to be deeper than I would have expected (basically in the river channel), some nice bull gills in shallow, and a half dozen walleyes that bit consistently through most of the evening. Crapps and walleyes on green jig/minnow combo and the gills on leaf worms under a bobber. Got the walleyes in ~ 14′ along dropoffs. Things were starting to pick up right when the sky turned green. Should be back at it again several times over the next week. Tight lines everyone!

Another beautiful early summer evening on Wissota. Fished up the Yellow River arm from the state park to the rapids. We found all of our biters shallow, 10′ or less. Had about an hour time period that produced about a dozen walleyes, several nice smallmouth and crappie, then like a switch, nothing. All fish taken on 1/8 oz green jigs tipped with fatheads. Saw a number of other boats out, especially near the rapids. Great night to be out before the upcoming wet weekend.

Hit Wissota in the Yellow area and it has slowed for me, did alot of searching without much finding, good to here you were finding some of those big gils. Also fished below the damn and we could only find a few walleyes, ran into a guy who was casting small rapalas around the quite eddy areas for smallys and a occasional bonus musky, seemed like on this day he was having a tough go of it too. Good luck to all….
