What St. Croix Avid should I get?

So like a moron I broke the tip of my 6’6″ MLf avid yesterday. Going to do the warranty program with St. Croix. Said I can replace it with any avid.

This rod is my primary jigging rod on lakes. Looking at getting the 6’3″ MLXF, the 6’6″ MLF, or the 6’8″ MLXF. Anybody have any input on these actions?

I’d go 6’8” mlxf but that’s pure personal preference. Regardless, I’d go with xf for jigging. Fast action would be a little more multipurpose in my book.

How much it cost? Have same rod sitting with tip broken as well.

I use a 6’3″ medium for vertical jigging and a 6’10” mlxf or mxf for pitching depending on jig weight.

The 6’8″ Avid is a MXF, and the 6’9″ is MLXF. Either of those would get my vote – the 6’8″ with mono and the 6’9″ with braid.

85 dollars if you caused the break.

Thanks for the advice everyone I am really leaning towards the 6’9′ MLXF. Only problem is they are out of stock until november (

Hmm, wonder if they’d let a guy downgrade to a premier or something. Never cared for the avid.

Well a little update. Drove the 2 hours to the factory and they upgraded me to a 6’3″ legend tournament walleye. Only had to pay the difference between the avid and the legend.

Too late now, but i see a river fish in your picture and bare trees. I used to love St Croix rods but learned to hate their tiny eyelets, which renders the rod useless at 32°.

I have plenty of rods that I use for river fishing. This rod is going to mostly see action on lakes.

6’9″ mlxf used to be my favorite rod. I find it a little heavy after using limit Creeks instead.

    Still a good one!!

Don’t feel bad, I broke an Avid a couple weeks ago and am currently waiting on my replacement from St. Croix.
I had the 6’3″mlxf and love it. Without question I ordered the exact same rod. Love it for vertical jigging, pitching jigs, and small jig raps.

the 6’8 MLxf is one of my favorite rods to put a jig on. with any jigging method.
