Went looking and found the paper relating to water clarity study and walleyes in ML. An interesting read. The DNR was involved, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Most importantly from the discussion section on page10.

    “Of course, a management
regime that adjusts harvest based on environmental
    changes will require flexible structures
and institutions that can adapt to change (Green
et al. 2017), as well as a commitment to sustaining
walleye populations over the long term.
Accepting harvest reductions is socially and
politically difficult, and will require coordination,
    communication, and collaboration among stakeholders,
policy makers, and scientists (i.e., adaptive
governance; sensu Folke et al. 2005).”
