Thought I might try fishing between the Minnesota river confluence and the Ford Dam. Any reports or suggestions on how to approach this streach of river would be appreciated.

I’d pull cranks upstream. Don’t be afraid to work the middle of the channel right below the hidden falls landing. Good luck!!
June 1, 2004 at 6:57 pm #306954Use a firetiger fat rap. I know it’s Waterfowler’s secret weapon, but I like letting his secrets out!!
June 1, 2004 at 7:09 pm #306958Since we’re giving away waterfowlers secrets don’t forget speed. I think he said increase trolling speed until you reel in a set of lips then decrease by 1 mph.
June 2, 2004 at 12:54 am #307006Great, now everyone will be down there catching all MY fish. Yes, I fish very fast on pool 2, 2.5 – 3.2 is a very common speed down there.
June 2, 2004 at 1:38 am #307017I love it when two buddies help each assist a forlorn angler catch fish. Thanks for the information, no worries, I am seldom a threat to any fish species!
June 2, 2004 at 1:56 am #307025Let us know how it goes. I can’t fish much right now since I’m working full force on my basement, so this is my fix. Good luck!!
June 2, 2004 at 1:08 pm #307083I drove down there last weekend, the water is HIGH AND FAST. Hidden falls would be a trickly launch w/ the strong back current, but there were some boats that went out of there. Not a lot of debris, but it looks like the MN river is kicking out a lot of stuff downriver.
Uh-and firetigers dont work on Pool 2.
June 2, 2004 at 1:20 pm #307086Dave! You’re crazy! Firetiger is the BEST color down there. Well, next to a couple different color patterns in the Hot N Tot that I won’t mention.
nubbinbuckPosts: 922June 4, 2004 at 11:48 am #307408I was out for a couple hours yesterday. The water is fast and dirty-lots of debris (leaves & sticks). I didnt find any eyes, but the smallies were on a tear.
saran maoPosts: 9March 23, 2016 at 9:33 pm #1608868Was out march 19th and caught this eye on a shadow rap. 2 small twitches and let sit for 3-5 seconds and she hits it on the pause. First eye of the open water season.
