dirty water trout

Finally, two days without a gully washer! Fished a local stream for about an hour tonight 6/15 with mixed results. I only caught three trout but 2 of them were over 16 with the biggest being around 18 inches. The stream was high and pretty muddy. I started throwing a Big Bow spinner without any success before switching to a size 9 jointed Rapala. It seemed the extra action of the jointed Rapala was the key in the muddy water. Had several other hits besides the fish I caught.

Betcha the 18 was nice. Were they Browns?

Joe, all three fish were browns. The 18 incher put up the best fight I’ve had this year, even better than the big rainbows I caught earlier. I was looking forward to trying again the next night but 2 inches of rain changed my mind.

Have you been out lately?

I have not, partly because I cant find size 18 water waiters. We tried some streams in western Wisconsin, with little luck. My dad did git a nice Brown out of Fall Creek, more out in the country. I should git out again if he git some decent weather.
