Len,
Thought of you when I was out west. I know you have a true passion for trout, flies, and great scenery!

thanks for the beautiful photos.
January 7, 2012 at 4:41 pm #1025583I was fortunate enough to spend two days fishing in Rock Creek MT and it was everything I thought it would be! AMAZING scenery and the fishing was great! It’s something you can’t just do once!!! From reading all your posts Im going to guess and say you might want to spend one day just taking pictures cuz doing both just isn’t possible

It is a tiny feeder that empties in a much larger stream. Typically no fish hang out in the bigger stream down this low in the bigger stream. This tiny stream meets the big stream and the trout migrate for miles to this intersection and yes the intersection is “secret” as secrets go and I have caught many big trout there.
January 21, 2012 at 3:15 pm #1030793my kinda water. a snaggy mess.
To the top of my waders looking for big browns.
I wouldn’t be caught dead in one of those homogenized manicured sections.
February 2, 2012 at 4:32 pm #1034656Some awesome looking places Len, looking forward to seeing some monsters. By the way I like how you call the fish in your videos .
February 3, 2012 at 12:29 pm #1034962I am hoping for green on opener but I must be a realist.
This is what the opener is going to look like.
The keys to a successful opening days early season opener is to look for those Thermal Changes in holes. Note the small spring emptying in on the right…The trout were stacked up like cord wood here. It was a Grand day.
February 4, 2012 at 2:33 pm #1035363Lots of folks dislike the scenery right after the snow melts. It means no more cold snow runoff…warmer waters and trout that haven’t been harassed for 5 months.
February 4, 2012 at 5:50 pm #1035387Len hope you don’t mind but thought I’d share. Nothing like yours but pretty fish I caught 1/10. Put it between the rocks coming down the feeding lane. This is Ia by the way.
This little pool was holding a crazy amount of fish and was the size of a car hood under the junk. Now after thinking about it must be a spring here, have to check another day.
Sorry for pic quality I was doing it quick to get them back. 13 was the total for the day, 17″ was the biggest.

One of those days that the fish don’t matter.Reconnecting with an old friend and being stream side was all that mattered.
February 7, 2012 at 11:48 am #1036228This place weeds up quickly…just loaded with trout…
Still no pines on the middle section.
February 8, 2012 at 11:39 pm #1036813That last spot reminds me of one of my favorite little spots I like to fish. Very similiar and holds some nice fish. Thanks for sharing

This photo was captured from an MPEG. It was the day that solidified my opinion:
“Brook trout are the most stupid trout of all.”
