I was hunting with my 11 year old son and this is what he “bagged”. I told him that we had to tag it and figure out how to eat it. I think it is funny, hope you do also.

    Hope the picture uploads.

Got to eat what you shoot!

I know a guy that shot a skunk. His mom left the house the evening his grandpa put it in the oven.

Never did ask him how it tasted. whistling

I think I’d mount that over the fireplace.

So how do you European mount a tree? Or were you talking the deer?

That’s the beauty of the tree. You don’t have to do anything for it to be a nice European mount.

But actually I was just playing along with the humor. smile

No doubt. And the pic of your son smiling with the (real) deer is a perfect example of what we need to get back to. waytogo

Euro mount the deer, and place a 3 foot section of the tree across it’s antlers!

Sometimes a tree will shift over right at the moment a guy shoots.
The father in law also bagged a tree like that between deer this week. I found it a lot funnier than he did. May have been laughing like a hyena

I did the exact same thing last year trying to finish of a buck my bro-in-law wounded as it limped by my stand. He was moving pretty good for having one of his front legs shot up. Should’ve been an easy shot, I followed him in my scope and a small tree got in the way as I squeezed the trigger. I remember seeing the splinters flying and the top half of the tree tipping over, still hanging by strands of wood. The buck moved on and we eventually got him in the adjacent creek bottom and ended his misery. I’d forgot about that tree until I climbed into my stand this year and saw it still hanging in front of me. Coincidentally this season’s ridiculous wind finished the job I started. I got to watch the top fall free in a gust and hit the ground. Kind of brought it full-circle.
