Mark’s post of his nice spiker shed reminded me to bring this up. On a recent roadtrip back from Brainerd my brothers and I were planning our shed hunting outings. I mentioned that one of my in-laws once told me that he found a bunch of “nubbins” when he was shed hunting. I giggled to myself based on the idea that even if the nubs fell off, how in the world would you find them! Then, it raised the question of if fawns shed their nubbins? I said no, one of the guys said -I think they do to create a base for the following year. Anyone know the answer to this?

I beleive yes. I saw a fawn with the missing nubs, but had the circles this past weekend before I went over to Brads!

Ok, so looks like I am wrong.. Next question, has anyone ever found one? Maybe I’m wrong for laughing at the in-law too!

Not me. Smallest I have found is like Mark’s in his recent post. Just a smaller spike.
