Okay I’m hoping we have some knoledgable people on here that can help us out with our fish pond.
I was wondering if gold fish or coy could live in the saltwater used in a pool system. From my understanding the salt level is 1/10 of ocean water, would this be too much for freshwater fish.
We are having a terrible problem with algae since the wonderful DNR in Wisconsin has now banned the plants that we had in prior years to keep the alge at bay. Our filtration system is not keeping up.

The salt in the pool won’t kill them, the chlorine will.

    Fish safe algaecides are available.
Also you could do a bit of research on a moss system.

We have tried algacides, not impressed. Have not heard of moss system so will investigate.

Thanks Saugeye-steve. We will give this a try. Not big on chemicals, so this hopefully will be a positive alternative. We used to use water-hyacinth but WI DNR has banned them. Makes no sence to me. Although they multiply quit fast they die in cold temps, so I wouldn’t consider them a invasive species.

They cannot live in the saltwater.
