HDS10 Mounting

I started with a 5″ at the console and moved up to a 7″.

I moved up to a 1.5″ ball with the 7″er and put the base

where the 1″ base was located so I wouldn’t have to drill

any new holes. When I did this I had to buy a longer RAM

arm to clear the dash. (See pics.)

Now I want to move up to a 10″ unit and think I’ll need to

move up to the 2.25″ ball with 2.25″ long arm.

Do you think it will hold up with the longer arm or should

    I explore other options?

I did have some occasional issues with the 7″ falling if

I didn’t crank it down super tight at the beginning of the

    day.

The 2.25″ mount is alot of do re mi so I have to be sure

    it will work.

    Replies are, as always, appreciated.

    Hi Dave,

Is that the 2.25″ ball or bigger?

    Long arm or standard length?

    Thanks for the reply!

I have seen guys running a double mount. 2 of them side by side. I think you still get some head twist set up dbl but not as much as single. Just a thought.

You will need the RAM “D” ball to hold the HDS-10 securely. I use the long arm version of the “D” ball to mount my HDS-10 up in the bow of my boat. It’s solid, much more secure than a 7″ screen would be on a “C” ball RAM. On the console, I bolt the bracket directly to the dash. It’s the most secure way to do it, if you have the mounting space.

    Hey Jim,

Do you use a different bracket than the 2.5″ diameter plate with the 2.25″ ball attached?

    Thanks,
    Dan

No, what I meant was I bolt the Lowrance mounting bracket directly to the dash- I don’t use a RAM mount on the console. The HDS-10 screen is large enough to make viewing easy from anywhere in the back of the boat and at wide angles.

Thanks for the clarification on that Jim.

I don’t think I have room but I’ll explore that option.

    Thanks.

Have you looked at the Ram Mount RAM-109HSB or RAM-109HU

    You can view them Here

    Might be a good option.
