We caught several milting walleyes this past weekend…in water as warm as 58 degrees. Is that unusual for mid-May and water temps that warm?? We sure thought it was odd.

Been hearing the same thing in northern Wisconsin with the late ice out. Only odd cause don’t have ice go out this late every year.

I would guess that you’re seeing late spawners just because the water has warmed so quickly in the last two weeks. I would also guess that those late spawners aren’t as late as they seem. Surface temps have warmed dramatically but the temp a couple feet down is far cooler than the what the graph says right now.
