I had a chance to get out with a couple of good friends this past weekend for one last ice trip. We knew most the ice by us was gone or rotten so we decided to leave early and drive a couple hours north. Problem was we got there and there was no walkable ice left, and we didn’t bring a boat with. So we drove a little farther north and still didn’t find walkable ice. We decided to head back towards home and check a lake 20 mins from home just to say we tried. Well it turned out there was a couple dozen people on the ice, so after a 4 hour drive we were on ice 20 mins from our door step.

Well it didn’t take long before we were marking and catching fish! We ended up catching a lot of quality fish and really the only thing I regretted was not fishing that lake earlier in the year. And maybe the extra drive time. But it was a great end to another ice season in western Wisconsin!

I’m jealous, I was hoping to get out this past week but I guess it was my turn to get the crud.
