Bass are in full spawn mode…or trying to anyway. We’ve had massive cold fronts one after another for over 2 weeks now. Nightime temps are going below 30. Daytime highs rarely reach 55. Water temps are just bouncing all over and heading down…down..down.
There’s still bass to be caught. On rivers if you’re going for smallies I’d recommend smaller plastis like Yamamoto Ikas or Mr. Twister Exude Hellgies on a 1/16 or 1/8 oz. Charlie Brewer Slider Head jig. Work the eddies and breaks…and work em slowwww. You may have to hang a bait in there for a few seconds to get anything to go.
If you’re going for largemouth (and possibly the occasional smallie) on lakes/ponds, I’d still be throwing the Husky Jerk or possibly diggin down deep off the first breakline with a small Shad Rap.
Or…bust out the minnows and go for crappies.
Northerns are going pretty good on southern WI lakes. I’ll have my boat moored on Delavan in a week and I’ll give reports from there as well.
Pictures from the past week to follow.
    Jamie
