Heart broken RIP Easton

It’s with a heavy heart I found my 14 year old lab past away today in his spot on my back deck. He was laying in the sun enjoying the day in his favorite spot. I know there are plenty of IDO people and dog people in general that understand the pain that happens with a truly good one. He was more than a dog. He was family, friend, protector of many and overall best mate a person could ever ask for. Was my/our first immediate family dog and slept in my sons room since he was born. Woke up this morning with my 5 year old ready to go to school. I am truly heartbroken today but will forever remember Easton the best chocolate lab in the world. I have put one other dog down in my life and this one truly hurts. Hurts more than I can explain.
Again RIP Easton you were truly one of the greats. May you run swim and enjoy life now with the others you have spent time with over your life. May the bobbers forever sink and the birds forever fly in your new world. You will be forever missed. Truly a great one. I love you bud.

I wish my last dog would have passed that way. In the long run you are lucky. Trust me. Sorry for your loss. The curse of having dogs is always such a big burden but worth it.

Sorry for your loss. As you can see in my picture, I too have a love for chocolates. The old man on the left (Tucker) will be 12 this year. We are cherishing our time left with him. They truly are the best dogs.

Very sorry to hear, Ripjiggen. No one will ever love you like a dog loves you and that’s what makes it hurt he most.

That sucks man! Been through many times and it never gets easier. We really dont deserve dogs. They are the absolute best companion and when you get a good/great one its even better!

I’m sorry for your loss and know the pain you’re feeling. The bond one develops with a dog is hard to put into words.
Our Black Lab/ American Staffordshire Terrier named Bear ran out on the road in front of our place and got hit by a truck less than a month ago. I’ll never know why he was on the road because it was completely out of his character but it was horrible and my heart still hurts because I loved that dog.
I told my wife we’d never get another dog but I started looking online one day and wouldn’t you know it, I found a Black Lab/Pit Bull mix at the Aberdeen South Dakota Area Humane Society that caught my eye. After filling out adoption papers and driving 4 hours to meet him the next Saturday, we were on our way home with our dog named Moose. I still miss Bear but now I love our big Moose too. He’s a big boy weighing over 100 lbs. but he’s nothing but a a softie.

Thank you all for the kind words. I read each and every one and they have helped. I wasn’t expecting that when I wrote my post. It was more or less for me to put something down on paper so to speak. For my own personal healing.
It was a tough day today. I work from home and think I went to the back door six times to let him come in. My 5 year old is struggling a bit to understand. I know he will be fine but it’s tough to watch and listen to him without losing it.
