Ely, Minnesota

    We are planning a trip to Ely the 1st week of
    june. We are Camping on Low Lake just north of Ely. I understand you can use up to a 25hp motor on this lake.
    We are also taking a canoe along. Does anyone have any fishing information for this lake or for that matter any other lakes near-by that are accessible by boat and motor or possibly a one day portage in and portage out trip with the canoe? I have fished in the area around Ely in late July but never the 1st week of June. Any help would be appreciated.

    There are a number of 25 hp lakes in the Ely area but alot of them are permit lakes such as Basswood. Moose is a very good lake with 25 hp restriction. I believe the Minnesota Fishing Regulations have all the info you need. Might check the web site for the MInnesota DNR.
