So I am in need of a passport and was looking for my birth certificate. I am 50 years old, been married for 28 1/2 years neither myself or my wife have ever seen my birth certificate. I called my mom and she said she had it. Tuesday in the mail I get my birth certificate and an added bonus – the bill for my birth. She was in the hospital 4 days. It costed $20.25 a day for her room and $10.00 a day for the nursery fee. The delivery room fee was $45.00. The total bill? $183.75 of which they had to pay $1.80 and insurance covered the rest. That explains a lot about me!

    That’s cool

we kept the original hospital bills for both of our daughters in their scrap books. We didn’t keep all the “other” bills that came along with it. We had some difficulties with our first daughter and a lot of specialists were “on call” and “available”. My favorite bill was from one of the so called specialists that was already in the hospital for another child, was sleeping in a lounge, and never saw my kid. $1,200.00 “Held Availability” charge…not bad for a knap.

Very cool My mother in law (who keeps EVERYTHING) has the hospital bills form all her kids also. Kinda cool to see how cheap it was to have a baby in the hospital only 40 some years ago…
