Anyone have any history of ice fishing down by st. croiv bluffs park? I’m not so much interested in where to fish but more so how the ice conditions can be in years past. My open water experince is that the current isn’t too bad in that stretch of river.

St. croix ice

I just came back from Hudson.
The ice looks like there’s a spring time thaw.
I’ve never been on that area ice fishing…but keep in mind it is a river and the Kinni Narrows aren’t THAT far up stream.
Way too early in my chicken opinion.
December 14, 2008 at 5:18 pm #728458i wouldn’t try it yet, not sure i will at all. Just doing some homework to see if this area has had reliable ice in years past given the right conditions. And the fact it is a river makes me nervous. A fish is not worth a life.

It’s hard to guage posters experience and your post raised some safety flags for this time of year.
You might recall the drowning up by the Hudson Narrows last year. Those people shouldn’t have ever been on the ice.
…and again, I’m chicken. I don’t push the ice envelope on the old St Croix.
