Save money and ask your pharmacist or Dr. for options on generic medications.
I’ve taken generic when ever possible. $$ for more fishing and hunting stuff
Won’t mention pharmacy names, but my wife was quoted $60.00 for a 3 month prescription and at another place the same 3 month prescription was $12.00. Guess where she went.
I’ve learned to always watch and ask questions.
Had a couple that recently had Generic’s made available.
The Original MANUFACTURER lowered their price so it was cheaper to purchase the Name Brand Original vs. Generic.
Ask Doctor for discount cards too. They may have Discount Cards available, saving on some drugs.
Many tips, tricks to getting best value.
That is a good point. Your insurance and where you buy the drugs makes a difference too. If anyone is on a Medicare Part D plan and looking to save money on prescriptions, send me a PM and I’d be happy to give you some advice.
I have had one generic drug not do it’s job. So I stick with the name brand for that particular drug.
Best,

I work in the pharma industry, and I generally get the generic version when possible.
I buy brand name every time for the added placebo effect Its more expensive therefore better duh.

atta boy…….I welded those tanks for a lot of those drugs where made in for 28 years! now I be the union thug for the company so keep on keepin on!!!!!
I was a pharmacist and grabbing a brand when a generic is available never happened unless a patient requested brand specifically.
This is pretty much a non issue at most pharmacies.
Besides, insurance claims come out with a rejection if you select brand when generic is available.
The only way I see this as even applicable to real world is if it is a cash paying customer and the pharmacist is trying to make as much money as possible which would mean it would need to be a private pharmacist owned pharmacy… even then that is a stretch
The other misconception by many patients is that they think there is a generic available for every brand drug. That is not the case. An example would be the Viagra, Cialis and Levitra family (PDE5 inhibitors). No generics yet. Viagra will be the first to go generic but they pay attorneys lots and lots of cashola to delay and road block the end of life of patents…. it is supposed to be a 20 year patent life from the time it is approved during benchwork prior to trials. By the time trials are performed etc the drug company typically may only have 8-12 years of protected rights to selling the drug without a generic. However, this timeframe is often extended with Pfizer, Merck etc bullying the generic companies in court, etc, etc. Every day of delay means millions for the popular drugs
