One Happy Dog

Last year our British Lab Colt was able to get out and get a few birds. He just turned 2 this month and since the temps finally dropped we got him out for a little more grouse hunting. Up until last weekend he only had about 30-40 flushes under his belt.

Colt has been professionally trained but when it comes to hunting natural instincts take over and you see what kind of dog you have. He never got too far away and was making nice circles hunting both sides of the trail. Colt was able to put up 18 birds for us and we managed to get 8, should of had a few more but weren’t ready lol.

This should be a great weekend for birds with cool temps and not the WIND like last weekend. Overall we couldn’t happier with how he is coming along and can’t wait to see what he becomes once he has roughly 100-150 flushes. The little guy sure has a lot of hunt in him.

Thanks. Yeah I would bring it along. We have seen more birds around the Grand Rapids area then up around Winnie this year so far.

Where about from GR do you deer hunt?

Up 49 near spider lake. We have a cabin on a little lake up in that state forest area, we have 40 acres surrounded by water and state land

Now that the leaves are mostly off makes it a good time to go grouse hunting. Nice picture.
