It’s that time of the year again

People watching, eating fried foods, and more people watching

What are your favorite fair foods?

    A few of mine are:
    Sausages by Cynthia, Italian sausage
    Corn on the cob
    Cheese curds
    Cinnie Smiths, mini cinnamon rolls
    Australian potatoes

Don’t forget that there is a new phone app for the fair also this year

Was 17 years old the last time I went to the fair. Think anything has changed in 39 years that would make it worth my time?

I skipped it for about 35 years from 75 to 2010 and the only difference I really noted (other than more different types of food) was that machinery hill did not have nay machinery any more.

Just hang by the MN DNR fish pond long enough and I am sure you will get to see your fair share of IDOers

Can I post PDFs on here? We made up State Fair Bingo cards last year. It was a ton of fun. Not very PC though…

What are the Australian potatoes? I’ve heard them quite a bit, but haven’t heard what they are. It is on the list along with the porkchop on a stick and deep fried pickles.

Had the pickles for the first time last year and loved them.

Pork chop on a stick doesn’t seem to be as good as when they first started it. It might just be me, but I thought that the cuts used to be better and thicker.

Machinery hill is fewer farm implements, but more boats and cars! Much more to my liking.

I always used to take the kids there to show them the farm stuff I grew up using, but now that they are in MS, they are bored with it.

Some good boat displays though in recent years. Might go tomorrow.

I cannot stand the smell of that burnt corn cobs, so I could never buy one.

I do enjoy the shakes from the dairy building, the fresh cut fries, and sweet martha’s cookies!!

They are really good. You can get them with ranch and/or cheese sauce. It is usually our first stop because we enter the fair on that end.

Our family is going tomorrow too.
