This family recipe has been handed to me from my father, I made my own taste changes. Give it a try they are YUMMO:
    1# high quality bratwurst, deskinned
    1 1/4# baby portablla’s medium in size
    1/4 c chopped water chestnuts
1/2 tsp. salt and pepper each
    1/4 cup chopped green onion
    1 egg
    1 tsp soy

Remove stems from mushroom and discard (unless you enjoy the woodiness flavor of stems) take a 1/4# mushrooms and chop then combine all ingredients and allow to sit for 4 hours or overnight. This will allow the mushrooms to suck up the flavors. Take the 1# mushroom buttons on a cookie sheet and stuff with the mixture then drizzle with melted butter and cook at 350 for 1/2 hour, maybe afew minutes longer…enjoy with toothpicks and a New Castle Nut Brown Ale

Showed this recipe to the FW. She says, “Sounds great, wonder if he used ‘precooked or fresh’ brats. If he used fresh, did he cook them first?” Will be trying this for New Years eve party.

Fresh bratwurst is best but you can use frozen in a pinch! Uncooked, the meat cooks in the oven with the rest of the ingredients and helps flavoring!

    Uncooked brat juice=flavor
