You asked if it was real and I replied yup. Not messing with you.

I’ll post the flower’s name when I get it tracked down.

Orchis Italica….Italian Orchid, native to the Mediterranean area.

    Nicknamed the “hanging man flower”.

So now we know where BK gets his showmanship from.

Ma is the flower gardener and I enjoy watching her in her world. Being a member of the orchid family this one caught my eye. Orchids can make some super weird flowers, this one no exception.

I like wild flowers and have Wild Bluebells and some Trout Lilies in a couple places in the yard gardens. I’ve had Showy Lady Slippers and Yellow Moccasin Flowers as well as Miniature Yellow Moccasin Flowers in one shaded bed that returned for several years before they died out. My all time favorite was a clump of Showy Orchids that hung on for almost 20 years. I harvested the clump while hunting for morels. I know where there is a wild bed of Showy Orchids and may go back and dig a couple to start again, but they’re so rare I may just leave them be and go back to enjoy them where they’re native.

And sorry Brian but not invasive. I think they don’t grow here or are unavailable here. Most Orchids have very specific growing needs and transcontinental movement probably nixes any chance of this coming here. But you can always do a photo spread to show the guys how you compare to the pictures. OR NOT.
