Does anyone know if the Hudson to Bayport ice road is open?

Not sure about the ice road, but there were a lot of trucks on the river at Bayport.

The bite is just OK. Takes a lot of patience and perseverance to catch fish there. They roam a lot so you kind of have to wait for them. Lots of different species as well. Caught my first mud puppy yesterday.

Where do you catch the road at? Is it by the city boat launch?

Was just out there last night about between shantytown and the MN side, about 16″ out there. This post details how to get out there and what to stay away from pretty good.

Was out on Wednesday with Sharptailer. Caught the ice road by Bayport Marina and fished near Anderson Bay. Fishing was slow, ice was 17 inches.

Anyone been out of Bayport within the last few days? If there was 16-17″ a week ago it should still be good to drive I’m guessing. Just not sure about the river since I’m a newbie to ice fishing. Maybe I’ll just have to stop out there and see if anyone else is got their trucks out and report back

Just be super alert. That weather we just got is not something I would take for granted.

Folks are still driving, my buddy gave me a call yesterday afternoon from the river. The bite sounded pretty decent…

As of saturday the bite was very good with a few 12 to 14 inch crappies to throw into the mix. A few walleye in the mix as well. Best time for me was just before the sun sets. They do roam that’s for sure. We fish along a brake line you can seem them go back and forth by watching come through the sonars. Fish would come through my whole then appear in the whole up stream then vise versa a half hour later.

Yep still a solid 14-15 out there just watch towards shore in some places cause ice is a little softer(particularly on the mn side closer to the marinas I noticed) and don’t go mach 5 across the ice like some people do. Only caught two mudpuppies but guy I met caught real nice sauger and we started marking wallies about 200 yds out from the fancy house on the point at the end of anderson window bay

Do crappies out there prefer minnows or bugs?
