The Sawyer County Snowmobile and ATV Alliance met last night and we discussed trail and lake conditions for all 600 miles of trails. With this large of an area I obviously can’t discuss every mile of trail so some generalities will be used. 80% of our trails have had a groomer over them. Some are quite rough from logging, deer hunting (trucks) and ATV’s and we need substantial snow to be able to fill these ruts. Consequently, you will run into some poor areas. We are supposed to get some good snow on Saturday. If that happens the above problem goes away. Trail 34 south out of Birchwood is closed until January 6th. We have a new property owner that thinks snowmobiles will affect his bow hunting?

There are only 2 lakes that are not marked. Grindstone will be done on Friday and LakeHayward is up in the air right now. We hope LakeHayward will be done by the weekend. Do not go on that lake until it is marked, it is really just part of the Namekagon River with flowing water.
