Quick update, water temps in the mid 50s, early season hot spots seem to be dead. We are finding fish on wind swept points and it is slow but steady. We fished Saturday evening, yesterday and this morning and have about 1 1/2 limits per person of 14-16″ fish. 6 guys havent boated a single fish in the 20-26″ slot yet. One guy noted that last weekend all they caught was big fish….gee, thanks buddy! We caught a few over 20′, but most of our time has been in 8-13′ of water.
40-45 degrees and raining off an on hasnt made for the most fun on the water.
Here are our boat’s small meal fish for today’s fish fry:
Here is my report from this last half week of fishing.
each basin really different right now. the fish in big bay have been going in 28ft of water in mud all the way to 8ft. Leeches are turning on now however we have been using minnows
Same for frazer bay, fish were found in 20ft all the way up to 14ft where we were fishing. All on a minnow as well.
The west end for some odd reason has not turned on yet, fish were not in their usual spots and didn’t mark anything either. If you want northerns their a plentiful on the west end if your staying there.
Crappies were on the tail end i believe, only fished one day for them.
Cloudy days were the best for us. The sun on Friday was our worst day of fishing.
Were staying at the casino. Looks like we will be trying out leeches and minnows. Thanks for the update guys

Just returned from long weekend,we moved around alot but we found our 14″-16″ walleyes in 8′-15′ FOW in necked down current areas around Gold Island. Picked up some in shallow muddy bays around Niles Bay. We moved around quite a bit and would pick off one or to at a spot then move on.
Went up to Black Bay and spent an entire day feeding Crappies, bobbers down! hook ups were about 1-4 attempts very sneaky and slow bites. Managed to land enough for a good evening dinner.
We got some bigger fish lately after slowing down our drift/trolls down to 1/2 mph or so.
Biggest only 20″, but many in the high teens. Still waiting for something in the slot.
