It’s getting to be that time of year again, so figured we should get this thread started. I have a few good prospects at the farm this year!

One more. This guy was around last year and I got one of his sheds this spring.

Here are a few so far. Sure will be nice to see them in another week or so when they are completely filled out

It sure does. I have really focused on off the wall places that get over looked. Places like smaller sloughs, drowned out/unplanted areas in fields and things of that nature. Granted this is private land, it seems to be paying off.

I am curious with the older bucks do you typically get more than one picture of them? They seem to notice the Cam. I never have luck with that unless i hang them pretty well hidden and they cant see it.

I have had these guys visiting regularly. Im guessing this is right in their house so to speak. Last year I had this guy coming in almost everyday during the month of August and quite a bit during September. Could never find him come October. The neighbors had never seen him, so I am guessing he is around this year unless the winter got to him. This is my favorite picture of him.

IMO mature deer are a whole different breed. Early in the year you have to have your camera soooo close to their bed in order to get any consistent pictures. I have never noticed a mature deer not showing up because they noticed a camera. They just don’t like to travel much. But also remember no two mature bucks are the same. They all move differently and some are patternable but I have found most are not.

100 percent agree. And once they know you are around there home then they will move one. Multiple visits to the bed is more harmful then good.

Nice Deer Jake! Those small overlooked spots are great. The main farm I hunt has lots of ag with waterways and overgrown ponds all throughout it. The last pic I posted lived in those ponds and waterways all of last year. I even crawled in on him when he was bedded in one of those ponds.

On the private I hunt the bucks, even the older ones, don’t seem to mind the camera. I have most of my cameras set up on fields edges though with easy access so there’s minimal pressure. When I hunted public more the bucks seemed way more sensitive to any human pressure, and that included cameras.

This guy played in front of my camera for a while between 130 and 4. Walks right in front the swamp where the cam is facing with another smaller buck

Update on the buck from last year I posted earlier. Clearly he got hurt or sick late winter or early spring. Way behind developing but the good news is he is looking better. If you look at the right ear he has a distinctive notch missing out of it

Wonder what that big healed wound is on his right front shoulder. Did he survive a bad shot ? He definitely isn’t growing fast this year

Certainly looks like something got to him. That ratty looking one was from early July, and the other one was from 2 nights ago. Uploaded in wrong order.

That’s a neat picture. Two questions for weedis. Why is the camera upside down and is that a platypus?

That would be a bear. The bear knocked the camera off of tree and is now laying on the ground. Both of my cameras actually since last night.
