non camp related, but will be interesting to see what the Wild offers Vladislav Firstov next offseason. The kid is off to another hot scoring start in the KHL and looks like he knows how to bury the puck when it gets on his stick, he also has some size at 6’1″. Now he likely burned some bridges/pissed off GMBG and Wild brass last year by not reporting to Iowa and instead leaving for the KHL on what is technicaly considered a “loan” so the Wild owns his rights indefinately while he stays out of the NHL…

Will he be offered a shot at next years camp? or will the Wild give up and use him as trade currency?

Sounds like Ducks GM and little ball of hate Pat Verbeek is playing hardball with Trevor Zegras and only offering him a bridge deal at $3-$4 aav…Zegras now is rumored to be asking for a trade, where do you think he goes? For those who say his play doesn’t warrant a big deal, he’s averaged 62.5 points the past 2 seasons on a dreadful Ducks team in full rebuild mode…

I haven’t heard of any locker room issues with him, but he has a personality that likely could ruffle some feathers…

And watching his 01 program buddies all get paid long term. Unreal year class for the NTDP.

I wonder if he’s been offered a similar long term deal and isn’t interested? I mean it’s just a rumored offer right, and they have to start somewhere. But even their goalie got a 3×4.5 and Sanderson as an 02 already got his 8×8 (that could really f-up a Brock Faber extension).

everything I’ve read has said Verbeek is trying to set the tone on what his young core players should expect come contract time…and a 2-3 year bridge deal is the expectation they should have (he uses Troy Terry as the poster boy). I also heard Verbeek’s “old school” hockey mentality has been clashing a bit with the younger players and he doesn’t like handing then a gaurenteed boatload of cash early and they lose motivation (different GMs, different strokes)… They have $16 million in capspace, so we’ll see how it all plays out, he also has Jamie Drysdale to sign this year and then Mason McTavish in 2 years…
