I grew up just a 100 yards up river from the kinni narrows on the WI side. Seen some messed up shenanigans there.

Some seriously good fishing there though.

    Thanks Jimmy!
I think I have enough to at least get started.

One the boating safety side of things. I have a cell phone but I’m thinking that is not a great idea should we run into trouble. Should I invest in a radio for the boat?

Thanks Feathers, I’ll give them a call.

And yes I have a boat so any tips on getting started are greatly appreciated. My biggest question is whether there is a time frame that is best for jig fishing or is it more of an all summer thing?

Are they any others? I talked with Grant over at Superior Angling and he doesn’t have any slots this year for a jigging trip.

They were pretty disorganized, one of our rooms wasn’t ready when we got to it. They upgraded the room to a suite so that was ok. Parking for the boat was tight, you may end up having to park a long ways away from your room if you are pulling a boat, I noticed some were detaching and using two parking spaces. I didn’t have any worries about the security of the boat. The parking lots are well lit.

I think next time I’m going to try Airbnb instead, the pickens are a little slim in those parts but I would rather not have to contend with hunting for parking.

We were using VMC underpsin 1oz jigs in white w/ Storm largo shad in 4″ White. We found lakers in the mornings active at 80ish feet, it wasn’t a huge bite but consistent. Around noon each day they disappeared all together, we spent a bunch of time looking in the afternoon but didn’t find them again. We knew some guys were looking for them in 55 feet of water. We checked out some structure at 55 feet but couldn’t get anything to bite.

As far as keeping them alive it wasn’t a problem, that said, the weather was cooler for us.

We were jigging for them, in my opinion there is no better way. We only fished for Lakers, but I would love to try Smallies, and Walleyes.

We stayed at Cottonwood Suites in Glasgow, about 20 minutes away from the marina.

Jigging tactics? We had to slow down the presentation, they were timid on the bite most of the time. Some of the bites were more akin to a sunny, but some were freight trains. If you felt like you got hit, set the hook hard! Hook sets are free. I lot of guys are running their walleye gear, although I didn’t like that much I preferred a little heavier rod.

Yeah my daughter and I watched the episode with Scott and James, she immediately was asking if we could go try that out. I’m seeing about putting something together for late June or early July.

Thanks James, I’ll give them a call.
