First time on Wissota this year… Went to the outlaws (sis- and brother-in-law) Sunday noon and stayed through early evening yesterday. Great trip!

got out for the Sunday night bite and again Monday morning. Caught our limit of legals (all between 12 and 14″) Sunday night, mostly on leeches with slip-bobbers in about 8 fow in a large weedflat (although we did catch a few on crawlers jigging). Also caught a couple of shorties, a couple of ‘slotters’ (16-18″) and two blue cats. Monday morning was a bit slower with only 1 spot active; one short of a limit, caught in about an hour or so, on the edge of a rocky transition area in about 15 fow, also on leeches and slip-bobbers as well as jigging leeches. Both times, the bite was hot for a period of time and then shut off as the ‘eyes moved through. We didn’t try any deep water…

Also saw something large chasing baitfish in a shallow lagoon-like area – pitched a couple of different musky baits in there but only got it to follow the lure once. After a while, the fish (whatever it was!) vacated the area so we went back to the ‘eyes.

Didn’t fish the rivers at all, just a few spots on the main lake. All in all, an excellent time – one of the better Memorial Weekends I can remember; great weather, great fishing, fun pulling the kids on the tube, excellent fishfry (both Sunday and Monday!). Hats off to our host, the best outlaws a guy could ask for!
