    Hi all,

I have a 1875 with a 200hp Merc. I am upgrading boat lifts. A buddy is selling Floe 3800 and Floe 5000 boat lifts. I THINK the Floe # is the max weight? I can’t find that info. Looking on websites, I can’t get an accurate idea of boat weight with a motor. There is a dry weight (1710 lbs) and a boat, motor and trailer weight (3000+/- lbs). With 200 lbs of gas, 200 lbs of gear, and 200-600 lbs of people weight in the boat before it is lowered in the lake, is 3800 lbs sufficient? Anyone have one of these lifts?

    Thanks

Your estimated weight of your people, gas and gear is just slightly more than the weight of your trailer, so, you should still be in that 3,000 +/- pounds range.

Take your loaded rig to a truck stop with a CAT scale, a landfill or grain elevator and weigh it. Use the 600lbs of people weight to offset the trailer weight to get a close estimate of you boats weight.
I think a 5000lb lift would be better because every one I’ve known that estimated the weight of their loaded boat with the numbers off the manufacturers sites have found that the boat weighs 400 to 600lbs more than they think.
