went out yesterday during deer opener. shot 3 mallards, lost a greenhead and shot this cool black duck mallard combo. looks about 90% black with a little mallard mixed in .

has got some curly tails, and some green by the tail, a little green on the head, white on the wing speculum, and it is more blue than purple. maybe a 2nd or 3rd generation cross?

not many ducks flying, just pretty much shot the ones that came in.

i know tailgate shots are lame, but i have wrecked too many cameras taking them into the swamp

Nice bird. I’ve only been out once this year and I’m running out of time. I also like your location. Does that put you 2 step ahead of the warden?

Cool pics. I’ve always admired people who can identify waterfowl, both flying and dropped……something that needs to be worked on
