Never ice fished vermilion, would like to give it a try. Does anyone maintain a road up there. I’ll just be driving my truck and portable fishing.

I’ve never seen a truck on the West end ice, but have on the East end where I believe there is a plowed road out of McKinley Park. Guys also drive trucks out of Moccassin Point landing on their way up to the Trout Lake Portage, but don’t believe there is a plowed road. With so much snow on the ice up there and plenty of slushy spots underneath, best not venture far off the beaten path…and whatever you do stay clear of narrow, constricted areas. Plan to go out of McKinley and stay on the plowed roads and you should be fine. Contact Cliff’s guide service for more detailed ice info. He’s on the lake daily and usually happy to help.
