Hello all, I posted this in the Garmin forum but thought i might get more action here. I’m having trouble with my brand new Echo Map Plus 73 SV and my brand new Panoptix PS22 transducer that is supposed to do LiveVu Down and LiveVu Forward. On the screen, the only option I am given is LiveVu Down. There is no option to be found anywhere for LiveVu Forward. Under the menu in the Panoptix screen there is a calibrate compass which I did successfully. I updated the head unit to the latest software update. So I am at a loss as to what to do next. The Garmin website shows the 2 to be compatible with each other. I tried calling Garmin, but closed for the weekend so I will try again Monday. Anyone with suggestions? Thanks

I just bought the PS22 Panoptix myself but I haven’t had it in the water yet. But one guess is the PS22 can tell if it’s pointed straight down or forward based on the bottom reading and only gives you the correct option. So ensure that the PS22 is mounted to face forward, usually by mounting on your trolling motor shaft, to see LiveVu forward.

That’s what I’m wondering I don’t know if it’s supposed to recognize or if I’m supposed to be able to choose. But, even when I have it pointed forward, only downvu is available on the selection screen, and only downvu is displayed when i hit the Panoptix button. I took the transducer to a local store and hooked it up to the same model and it did the same thing. So my guess is a faulty transducer. Very disappointed, considering the money I spent. Hopefully I get this figured out

I don’t know for sure, but there are specific down transducers, and forward transducers that the unit knows and will come up when you choose them. Your transducer is a multipurpose transducer able to look forward or down depending on where you have it aimed. Which screen it puts it under isn’t going to alter what you are seeing. A call Monday to Garmin will clear things up. Most of the time a multipurpose transducer won’t work as well as buying the two different specialized transducers, but maybe it will and the only advantage to having two versus one will be that you don’t need switch the angle when you want to make a change. That would be a nice cost savings if it works the same as the other two.

Seen this as well. On the units there is a live vu forward and LV down option depending on where you have it positioned.

Now if it is not reconizing as i mentioned before, could not have power to the transducer.

I just looked on the Garmin site under each transducer. Under the 22 transducer it shows both views in a video. It is not the same view as the forward only transducers. It looks to me like it is a downview transducer that you turn forward to change the view. If that is the case that would explain why it only works in downview. Like I said before, I could be wrong.

I guess that’s my confusion. I don’t know if I have to manually go in and select each View, or if the screen automatically orientates depending on how I have the transducer pointed. But in any event no matter what I do or try, forwardvu does not come on. Tomorrow can’t come soon enough…lol. when a guy spends that kind of money you expect things to work

Yes you have to manually select which view per how you have the transducer pointed.

the ducer i believe still acts the same however the layout on your screen is different.

Okay so I did a little more testing today. I was able to get it to switch over to forwardvu. But I had to wait at least 10 mins or so. I can’t believe it takes that long after adjusting the transducer. I can live with it since now its in the mode I really want, but if it gets “confused” in the future that might get very frustrating. Btw…after waiting almost the 10 mins I started fiddling with the the depth range settings and it finally it changed. Don’t know if that had anything to do with it or just the “time” that had passed.

Does anyone know if you can use the Real Vu screens with the PS-22?
