Transducer Placement

My H-Bird transducer (2D, SI, DI) is mounted 1/4” above the bottom of the hull (transom) and it’s out of level by half a bubble. I lose 2D signal over 10 mph and am suspicious of the SI readings. Would the positioning I described cause any of this?

“Above the bottom of the hull” means at speed it’s out of the water. And what is “level” in reference to? Sitting on the trailer? Dead in the water? Typically you need a downward tilt front to back. Read this: http://www.sternmate.com/Where.html

It’s on a stepped-in fiberglass hull, so I believe it’s in the water at speed.
Yes, sitting on the trailer, but the boat is pretty level (side-to-side).

I used a protractor Myself that I bought at Menards. just read the angle on the water, set the boat on the trailer and using the jack set the boat to same angle, and the set you transducer to 0 bubble or level, it should be about right when you put your boat back on the water. only thing you may have to play with after that would be transducer height.
