Thinking spring

With spring right around the corner I’ve had the itch to get my boxes filled with plastics so I won’t get caught having to make baits when I should be fishing them. The bait shown here is done using a tail mold for a paddletail type bait. Before the cover dip of clear plastic is applied over the eyes this little guy measures spot on at 3/4″, just a hair longer with the cover plastic applied. Fished on a 1/64 or 1/32 jighead cast on a #8 hook, sunfish love this scaled down paddletail, but crappies have no aversion to whacking it either.

Tom, great looking plastics. I have been thinking spring also. Going to pour 200 jigs this weekend.

There ya go. Nothing like pouring lead to get spring charging ahead. I have to do the same thing soon.

With the freezing temps we have had and spring no where in sight at least I can get a warm spring feeling pouring the jigs.
