st louis river waleye

    i am thinking of trying the river out over the 4th of july,have never been on the st louis and was hoping to get a few tips from anyone willing to give up a little info,any good turns or holes that hold fish,ive heard good things in the past.

    July can be a tough time on the river just due to the fact that the majority of the walleyes in there right now will have migrated out by that time. BUT there is a descent number of resident fish in there so you should be able to find a few. The weeds will be up and a lot of the 2 and 3 foot areas we fish right now will be consumed with vegetation. Trolling lead core on the channel edges can and will produce fish, also finding the weed patches in the harbor and pitching jigs to em can work. The st Louis is more of a trolling bite especially that time of year. As time progresses I can keep ya up to date on what it is like so hopefully you can get on some fish.
