Anyone else watching the SpaceX launch? I find it fascinating.

I watched quite awhile on Wednesday. Have a timer set today, not going to tune in too early this time in case it just ends up cancelled again.

Really cool watching it and also seeing the inside with the astronauts during. A far cry from the shuttle with touch screen controls and such.

We missed it. I wanted the kids to see it live but it was such a great day to be outside.

No worries. You can watch all 4.5 hours here if you like.

Of course if the kids start getting restless you can fast forward to 3Hours 30minutes for liftoff if you desire. waytogo

I didn’t understand the baloney cut at the top of the rocket. I think that section hinges open and allows a larger access than a straight round opening. It just looks odd, like it could affect drag asymmetrically.

I found the astronauts’ right arm patch interesting. A bit of Elon Musk’s humor.

It hinges open and exposes the hatch for docking with the space station. I’m guessing it’s angled slightly to give a better view and clearance when docking. I doubt the angle even affects drag, especially if it is a smooth surface.
