What rods are you you guys using when trolling heavy snap weights 5-10oz? I got a couple 8’6″ scheels trolling rods and they seem to take all the action out of them.

How deep are you looking to go that you are using weights that heavy?

I regularly troll using 8 oz. snap weights and have been using Scheel’s 8’6″ rods for quite a few years. I’ve always liked them.

I use medium heavy Ugly Sticks with 6 oz.

Must be deep! I use 3oz tops but I’m staying 30ft or less.

Might as well use a downrigger at that point!

Which line are your scheels rods? The extremes or the pro-anglers?

    Not necessarily.
We use handlines with 1-3 LBS for trolling up current in as little as 10-20′.
