Anyone have experience with a skeeter wx 2060 and a minnkota trolling motor as far as shaft length? is a 60 long enough in 2 ft waves or will it cavitate?

Depends on which vintage of 2060… the current platform the 60 inch works just fine. The older version bow sat higher and the 72 is better in the rough stuff.

It is a pain to go longer after you find out it is too short. My dealer was able to work with me on upgrading my Xi5 60 to 72 but they very well could have said no. I have a Warrior 2090 and even with the 72 there are days I pop out. I need to move to fish from the bow as well as my guests. Then we usually take a few over the bow.

From what I’ve found, generally speaking if the waves are big enough your bow mount comes out of the water, it’s windy enough you need your kicker to troll into the wind. Hasn’t been an issue for me up on Leech Lake. Steer with the bow mount and use the kicker for forward movement. I haven’t tried spot lock in waves that big.
April 3, 2021 at 10:27 pm #2027396So I have the 60″ shaft and its too short. In 2 foot waves the motor is out of the water every time the boat goes up and down. Every time the front end drops the prop sucks in air and it vibrates like crazy. Just a heads up to anyone looking to use this set up.

Even with my 72″ on my 2017 on ruff days it prop barks.
