What type of rod do you guys use to pull offshore style planer boards with. What about Dipsy divers? Can the same style rod be used for both? I am looking for rod style, length, weight, etc. I generally run 12# mono, for the boards. I am trying to get outfit to fish walleyes, salmon, and trout. Thanks for the info. WTA

My two top rods of choice for runnng boards are either the 10.5′ St Croix Wild River Rod in medium action or the 9′ telescoping Planer Boards from Cabelas. Team those up with Shimano Tekotas (300’s or 500’s) and you are set. I personally like to run Superline better than Mono. You can achieve greater depths than mono and I like the supers sensitivity and no stretch better than mono.

EDIT: I did not see this was in the Trout/Salmon board. Those are my set ups I run for Eyes.
