Reel seat or no seat?

I’m deciding on an Acc Crappie Stix 32″ Super Grip or reel seat. I’ve always liked a reel seat. Is it that much more sensitive without the seat?

seems like personal preference. I think all rods should have reel seats. i mean we are not cavemen fishing with a branch.

For panfish no reel seat. Let’s you position the reel where you like. Reel tape is plenty strong for panfish.

I went with no seat. I’d hate to get the thing and my reel doesn’t fit. Thanks for your responses.

In my hut I hang my panfish rods on rod supports. So I need the rods to be hung so they are balanced. I vote for no reel seat.

With smaller rods like ice rods under 34” I prefer to have no reel seat. This way you can attach the reel you pick in the proper spot to balance out the set up. I prefer to use inline reels on most of my ice rods and they require being mounted farther forward and little to the side to have your rod balance correctly. If I choose to put a spinning reel on that same rod I would mount the reel father back and inline with the guides to get the proper balance. If you had a reel seat you would not be able to place the reel for best balance. On my dead stick rods and long ice rods I prefer a reel seat. If you were using a baitcasting reel, sturgeon, lake trout, or x-heavy rod it should have a reel seat. I like to use friction tape to attach the reel. Friction tape only sticks to itself and has no adhesive.

None off my good ice jigging rods have reel seats.

Depends on your fishing style. If your jigging bare handed small hooks under 1/4oz go cork. Anything over 1/4oz, I’m jigging big rips to call over fish and they usually hit hard enough I don’t need to feel it through the handle. I do like the smaller real seats on the St. Croix primer ice. I’m hole holing in -20 so gloves are a must and a smaller real seat feels better in my hand then a large diameter cork.

It was on my porch when I got home today! It wasn’t going to get damaged. It came in a HEAVY,very solid tube. The last rod I ordered just came in a clear plastic tube. All the eyes are straight and lined up and pretty good size. It’s light but solid. I feel like I got a damn nice rod without spending $100.

Jigging stick no seat and for Irish Pros. Doesn’t really matter or set line rod. It ultimately depends I think on personal preference and how you hold the rod.
