The flood forecast for this spring is in and it is looking good for us who live along the Red River. With very little snowfall in the Red River basin this winter, there is just a small chance that there will be any flooding at all this spring. If there is any flooding it should be minor and also it sould not last very long.

What does this mean to us fisherman? Well for first thing, we should be in the river fishing by about the first of April. Which is alot better than the first part of June as it was in ’97 and ’01. Also with less run-off the walleyes will be a lot easier to come by as they make thier way upstream this spring. They stack up below the low head dams on the Red River, as long as the dams are not completely covered by water.

As for the Catfish, they usually will bite as soon as we can get into the water, and that should be early this spring.

    Hope for warm weather!

    Dennis
