Is this is a buffalo, real good chance it was a record.

Caught on a crankbait at nearly 5 mph, in the mouth.

Wisconsin big mouth Buffalo is 76+ lbs. Minnesota 41. Looks like a big mouth buffalo. Record would depend where caught. Have caught some in that 30-35lb range. What did this weigh 40-45lbs? Nice fish I have caught most of my bigger by accident most hooked in mouth also. Jigs and plastics or cranks for walleye. I believe they eat quite a bit of minnows. Nice fish

    76# holy cow.

Good to know we didn’t go through any effort to weigh it lol.

My guess is mid 40’s to 50#

Caught on MN side of Mississippi on p4 today.

Congrats on a giant. The tails remind me of King salmon. Heck of a strike at 5 mph. Had to feel a bit undergunned with walleye tackle. Any walleyes biting?

Nice fish! That must have been a blast.

One question. How slimey was she? I’ve gotten Buffalo slime on me and it is hard to get out.

I had properly washed my coat that morning with some nice lake Pepin spray, Brent was quick to point out I was reslimed!

But, I don’t normally fish for rinky dink fish, so slime is accustomed to my boat apparel.

Thing bled all over my pants though.

Caught this bad girl on Sunday Andy. #38 pound in the net with a scale. I thought it was a buffalo because I haven’t seen a carp that large before.

It may not be shopped but holding the fish out like you are is nearly blocking the camera lens. Just saying tongue tongue

At 6’6″ and 275 all I’m doing is making it look normal sized… I could make that fish look no more than 20# too… But what fun is that )

Did you happen to get a length on that monster?

James Holst Caught a monster Bigmouth Buff a number of years back that he shared the photo of with me.

I am so glad when they go back in the water. They are an amazing native fish to catch. Your guesstimate seems pretty reasonable too.

Agreed, I really didn’t have any interest in claiming a record fish that I didn’t intentionally target either. Just doesn’t seem right in my brain.

I got one on pool 2 a month or two ago that must’ve gone 33″ and at least 25 lbs on a jig and plastic in the mouth.7’0 medium-light spinning outfit with 6 lb mono. 45 minute fight. Caught another one a couple years ago on a lipless crank. 30 minute fight. River monsters.
